Why do stamped prices vary so much?
Pattern labor, color systems, release agents and sealing lift stamped work to $13–$26 per square foot in the Chicago area. Some local price lists run $15 to $25 or more, and $20 to $33 for stamped patios that include tear-out, color hardener and sealer. What are the cheaper decorative options?
Integral color is the cheapest step up from plain concrete, and exposed aggregate usually costs less than full stamping.
- Integral color: adds $2 to $4 per square foot, with no pattern to maintain.
- Exposed aggregate: $12 to $18 per square foot.

Can a stamped or colored apron go in the parkway?
Not without extra paperwork in some suburbs. Naperville requires a right-of-way encroachment license agreement with the driveway permit when an apron is stamped, colored or exposed-aggregate concrete. How is stamped concrete kept looking right?
